VSS focuses on the ability to know with certainty the real time condition, disposition and location of people and high value physical assets. This product is targeted for the following segments.

VSS is customer-focused solution that is dedicated to innovative applications of cutting-edge technologies that impact our society in big, positive ways. It helps ensure that communities no longer have to incur the very high costs of building and running more and more corrections facilities. VSS through its applied technologies operate in real-time in a wide variety of industries and provide reliable and cutting-edge features.

There is a big challenge in developing a system that can serve various business environments. Not all businesses operate in the same manner. In addition, it is very difficult to tackle every business needs with one system. A lot of research has been done to gather as much requirements as possible to make this product very generalized.
Several VSS systems exist in the market already. However, lot of these systems has to make changes to their applications to customize for every client. This adds extra burden in expenses towards making customization. At least two developers need to be allocated to do these customizations.
Semafor has not taken service of any outside market survey agencies, as it will put extra financial burden to the project. There are several survey reports available for similar kind of products, and they are highly recommendable to add new features and make it economically more viable. |

As part of the competitive research, it is found that lot of customers are demanding a web based solution as several personnel in the office can work on the system at the same time without going thru the hassle of installing software on all their machines. It is also easy to upgrade the software at one central location rather than upgrading it on every pc as and when there is a need to upgrade the software.
Also, to stay ahead in the competition, it is decided to use Microsoft's new technology which is .Net environment .

- VB.Net for backend for web development
- C# for business logic
- SQL Server 2000 for database development
