SOBIT (Service Oriented Business Integration Toolkit)
|
 |
We want to take Semafor Technologies to the next level.
Semafor is a profitable LLC based in Atlanta Georgia. It has grown from a two-man consulting company started in 1999 to a $12-million software company whose main stream business is to provide professional services to software firms mainly Telecom. Growth has come from patience, hard work, and quality of product and services. The company has never had outside investment.

The typical IT infrastructure is a complex mix of technologies from different vendors that is difficult and costly to maintain. Main challenge is to make it all work together-and to do it faster and at a lower cost.
Semafor's answer to this challenge is SOBIT (Service Oriented Business Integration Toolkit), complete software offering that enables customers to adopt a service-oriented architecture (SOA). SOA Toolkit helps you manage the complexity of your IT environment by allowing you to link your different IT systems as loosely coupled services that work together-providing more flexible, reusable component architecture with faster development cycles and lower costs.
What can this do for our clients? It can help them increase efficiency , through automated processes and tighter integration with trading partners; drive better business decisions , through improved visibility into business operations; achieve information accuracy , by implementing a single source of truth for customer, product, and financial data; and adapt to changing business needs , through a flexible infrastructure that increases their organization's agility. We strongly believe that.

As part of the competitive research, it is found that lot of customers are demanding a web based solution as several personnel in the office can work on the system at the same time without going thru the hassle of installing software on all their machines. It is also easy to upgrade the software at one central location rather than upgrading it on every pc as and when there is a need to upgrade the software
Also, to stay ahead in the competition, it is decided to use Microsoft's new technology which is .Net environment.
The following technologies are decided:
- Java, J2EE for web development user interface
- VB.Net for backend for web development
- C# for business logic
- SQL Server 2000 for database development
